All welcome Mr Micawber, especially when you bring useful info like that!
Are you a relative of our MrsMcCawber or just happy coincidence with the names?
ISOM - know what you mean about chopping, I did have to stab from afar with a pair of scissors! I'd be no good with a pigs head!!
Not sure how much wadding you need, but when I made sock monkeys I bought a pillow from mr T value for £1.50 and used that.
Found a couple of other threads that perusers of this one may like to see - be warned though, I've been hours and still not got through them all!!

Hi MrMicawber and Welcome
I did chicken legs as a stew type thing the other day. was delish as it was on ALL day!!!
I did Chicken roast dinner tonight and I have the carcass in my slow cooker over night for chick stock
I have a bit of chicken left over too all shredded ready for tomorrow's tea. any suggestions? can use some of the chicken stock maybe? or I might use that for a soup of some kind. I don;t often run out of idea's but maybe its because I am a bit sick of chicken at the moment......
Any suggestions gladly recieved!!!:rotfl:

I use some of the stock and the 'bitty' dregs of the chicken to make rissotto -- normally, chicken, mushroom and peas. I sometimes add sweetcorn as well (more for colour), and last time used the 'bitty ends' of a gammon joint that had been in my slow cooker as well as the 'bitty' chicken.Cheryl0

Oooh! That is something i have only made once years ago Risotto. Will have a go again at some point. Tho I don't have any risotto Rice at the mo and don't want to "pop to shops" until the end of the week if I can help it!

Sorry -- Rissotto is my "use up" recipe. The three of us all have different likes/dislikes, so when I find something that we'll all eat well enough I don't end up binning almost a full portion I tend to stick with it :rolleyes2Cheryl0

Has anyone heard from MuscatJane? I assume she's packing her camel train?
Might be a little too late now but okra goes really well in a curry as it sticks everything together and you can put less coconut milk and such like in it.
Otherwise my favorite recipe (although you may have to go out for a fair few ingredients)
One onion, sliced up
Dried shrimp (often found in chinese shops but easy to omit)
Fresh prawns
Fresh chillies
2 cloves garlic
A good thumb of ginger
Chilli powder
Lemon juice (authentically should use tamarind paste juice)
Okra sliced up
1 or 2 tomatoes sliced up
Fry onion, garlic, ginger, with the dried shrimp in vegetable oil until fragrant. Add chilli powder and lemon juice. Then simmer for a few minutes. Then add the okra and cook until it softens. Then add prawns and tomatoes, cook for 5 minutes.
Serve with coconut rice and cool mango lassi.
This really isn't a frugal recipe at all (sorry

Make it into an omelette?
Chop one onion finely, heat up the chicken through, if too dry add a glass of sherry or chinese rice wine (or just add it in anyways), add whatever vegetables are going, beat up eggs with milk and cook on low heat.
It's a mish mash between a chinese recipe and a spanish omelette.
Or just use the shredded chicken bits in fried rice.0
