I love tinned steak and we haven't had it for ages. Our favourite way was to make a cobbler out of it by topping the meat with scone rings. We love that gorgeous mixture of pastry and dumpling.
Got a thing about pasties too at the moment. I'm drooling at the thought.:rolleyes:AUGUST GROCERY CHALLENGE £115.93/ £250

Just found two very dusty packets of Earl Grey Green Tea. Not sure about it as I keep hearing green tea doesn't taste great. :undecided
Wondering if it could be used in Bara Brith as I could do with some treaty bits to fill the cake tin. Planning a bake up tomorrow so shall give it some thought.
Must remember to make the ginger cake and treacle scones for the freezer while the ovens on.

*waves* Back fom my break with my friend, and much refreshed, She's a handy frugal friend to have too, as it turns out her idea of a great day out is to go blackberrying and picking wild apples then returning to the caravan to make a crumble!
Anyway, back home now and will be joining the storecupbord challenge - I need to make room in the freezer for 120 cupcakes.
So, tonight I am thinking of inventing 'piggery pie' - like cottage or shepherd's pie, but with the pack of minced pork I took out this morning, one leftover bit of black pudding and some bacon mis-shapes. I also have some leftover sliced and par-boiled new potatoes which I think I will use to top it. I've also got a ham stock cube, a couple of sticks of celery and an onion to put in, and also thought a dab of mustard might not go amiss. Do you think it will work??? Any other thoughts?

I wish we had a big enough freezer to cope with a lamb and half a pig - wow!0 -

I havent got half a pig - shaz has!! No chance of room for one here! What about trying green tea wine?! Elfy what about making a soup with pots, bit of onion and bacon bits and then the pie with the rest?! Just a thought...any lentls/split peas to scatter round the edge of the pork and pots...just make it go further?Nerd no 109 Long haulers supporters DFW #1! Elfin - that piggery pig sound delish. Yum! And I'd definitely add the mustard.

The tea recipe links were interesting, too. I had a wander on the site and came across Iced blackberry tea. Ohh I used to love the twinnings version in my less frugal days.
I've never made wine ISOM. We don't drink much but I love cooking with wine so we were thinking about looking into that next year. SIL started doing some a few months ago so I'll have to ask her this afternoon when I pop round how its going.
Knee deep in more tomatoes - keep thinking I'm done and then find more to pick. :j They'll be pulped with garlic and onions for the freeze 'meal blocks.'AUGUST GROCERY CHALLENGE £115.93/ £250
