Massage Recommendations?

Hi all,
Just wondering if anyone can recommend a good masseur/masseuse/beauty salon? I would like a proper massage; not one that just brushes your skin and calls it relaxing but maybe not quite as muscle-deep as a sports massage. Does that make sense? I'm trying to word this so that it isn't taken the wrong way - I've asked my friends but we're really not on the same wavelength *sigh* !
Area - Around Downpatrick would be great, otherwise towards Belfast (or in Belfast)
Price - Not the most expensive place please! I don't know how much an hour's massage is, used to be about £30 but that's over 2 years ago (I've been wandering).
So any recommendations? Many thanks.

I can personally recommend 'The Beauty Company' on Montgomery Street in Belfast City Centre. Tel. 028 9033 2546. They used to be in Arthur Street but have recently moved to bigger premises.
I went for a one hour aromatherapy body massage - it cost about £35. It was so relaxing, they were firm without leaving you feeling like you'd been three rounds with Frank Bruno.
I've treated my mother to a few massages there before and she's come out totally on cloud 9.
You relax in a warm room listening to soothing music while they massage you more or less from head to toe with aromatherapy oils. Bliss!Norn Iron Club Member 3300 -
The Belfast Chiropractic Clinic on the Ormeau Rd has massage therapists. It's a wee while since I've been, so am not sure of prices. They offered different kinds of full-body or back & neck massage. Tel: 9064 11110

The naked sun on the lisburn road is good. I went for a exfoliating scrub/massage and my sister got a proper massage, shes a hockey player and wrecks herself. We both felt great after it!

The Omni therapy centre at the Ramada, Shaw's Bridge is great for massages. The bliss package is £40 for the hour, you get an indian head massage, back, lower leg & feet massage. At one point they dip bags of herbs in hot oil and paddle your back with it, it is amazing! I have ME and it's the only massage that's ever energized me.The stupid things you do, you regret... if you have any sense, and if you don't regret them, maybe you're stupid. - Katharine Hepburn0

Thank you all for the replies. I am so looking forward to trying these out... of course its all in the interest of research that I might have to try all of them to find which I like best :-)
Thanks again.#96 of the Norn Iron Club

Thank you sleepymy for your tip. I have arthritis and fibromyalgia, and I would love to have someone massage me who knows about these illnesses as I know if it is done wrongly on someone who has certain illnesses it can cause damage, so I will ask if they are okay about that. It sounds wonderful though. Thanks again MargaretDo a little kindness every day.;)0

You're very welcome Margaret, I hope they're able to cater to your needs. They have an alternative therapy treatment centre so will hopefully be used to working round people's various conditions.
I have a gift voucher here since my birthday in July, I'm just trying to get well enough to go down for a good aul rub, I could really do with it atm.
Hope you all have great massages where ever you decide to go :beer:The stupid things you do, you regret... if you have any sense, and if you don't regret them, maybe you're stupid. - Katharine Hepburn0 -
Margaret, theres a girl called Julie who is based in Carrick. its a company called Orchard Holistic therapies. Julie does reflexology and aromotherapy, when you go she takes 10 minutes at the start to find out about your general fitness and if you have any ailments such as a cold etc, she will then tailor the session around that (if thats what you wish), you'll then get after care advice as well, along with keeping on file the areas she concentrated on so on your next visit you can discuss how you felt after etc. She is fantastic and what she does and a lovely lady into the bargin! Def well recommended!!!:j Norn Iron Club Member No. 343 :j0

I have ME too, does this treatment really make you feel a bit better? I go to a chiropractor which helps and apart from that the painkillers are all I've got!0 -

So sorry rosy, only seeing this nowI found the bliss massage fantastic and really did seem to give me energy. I think it all depends on your ME though and how it effects you, some people react badly to massage, I can if I haven't had one for a while.
