Temporary not make payments

  • Some ideas...

Move around any balances NOW before you ask. If possible move some balances to 0%, and read Martins article on the credit card shuffle (in the credit cards area). (If possible move some balances to MBNA where minimum payments throughout the 0% deal are only £5 per month - so you wont even have to ring them.)

I would offer them a token payment of £1 per month. They will be much happier that the account is still active.

Sorry I can;t be more help, I have never actually done this before.

    Good Luck.

If you know this financial problem is coming *and* that it is *short-term*can you plan around it? Either take out a loan or arrange an overdraft. For short term problems this works out OK. Although you will pay interest on new borrowing it will work out cheaper than default charges getting piled on.
There is a big *if* though. If you are already struggling to meet payments or living only just within your means then you need to consider if this really is a short term problem or something more.
