Hi,
My sister will be retiring (60) next August. Does she need to be doing any preparation or is it all done automatically?
She actually stopped work a few years ago, due to ill health. She is getting some kind of benefit, ( not sure what) also a pension from her full accumlated years in employment, not sure if it is still called super annuation!
Could anyone please tell me if, and what payments will be effected once she turns 60?

Sh will start getting her state pension. For a forecast of how much she is entitled to go here: https://www.thepensionservice.gov.uk
Whether this will affect her benefits, depends on what kind of benefit she gets, some are means tested, some not.If she has a very low income she may be entitled to pension credit.

Hi, It's me again.
My sis has all the information now, but it is getting close to her retirement (August) and she has not been asked to fill in any forms to claim her state pension.
She did give all her information online in November and was then told to do it all again in January, unfortunately we cannot get back into the right page to do this
Can anyone please help?
Many thanks

She might find it quicker and simpler to claim by phone, the number for claiming is 0800 731 7898.0

And they can help with things like council tax benefit, housing benefit and any pension credit entitlement at the same time.;)0

I think you have to be within two months of retiring before you can claim
state pension. Easiest done over the phone.
Dont forget the bus pass:j:jmake the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
The Pension Service website suggests it's 4 months (though not completely clear!), no harm calling in any case.0

You receive an invitation to claim four months before. But you are asked to make the claim about two months before.0

Thank you all for your help.
