Free International Calls from O2 Payg Sims.

Thought this might interest other users.Dont know if its been mentioned couldnt find anything.

If you have a o2 payg sim with inclusive/bolton x-net anytime anywhere minutes, you can dial SimplyFone access numbers like
07744 97 4116, 4404, 4333 etc etc which i got from this site, and make Free Intl Calls to Numerous Intl Destinations. It only works out of cross network minutes apparently.

I saw this idea on another site, and when i registered my free sim the other day and topped up by £10 i chose the 100 inclusive x-network minute option, and the free 50 minute bolt on.

I have called Austrailia,India, and Spain for about 80 minutes , and have not been charged. I still have some minutes left and the original £10 to use as i like.So these calls are truly free.

There's another thread about SimplyFone charges HERE that might prove useful. :)
  • Thanks for the tip i have just phoned the folks in Eire and Spain for about 15 minutes and i still have my credit.
  • i have o2 PAYG but the simplyfone access number cut the balance on my credit.
    it didnt work?
  • It's free, if it comes out of your free minutes :P

The number allows you to call internationally, only paying Mobile to Mobile rate, rather than Mobile to International (usually £1.50 a minute :O)

It does work but only from your inclusive/bolt on x-net payg minutes as the original poster makes clear. It does not work if you havent got any of these minutes,or if you have run out of these minutes, and if thats the case you will be charged.

If you have run out of exclusive minutes you could use the international bolt on which is free to all o2 payg customers until Jan. 10th.(after that £4.99), which gives 35p per min Peak and 10p per min offpeak to landlines anywhere.
Calls to mobiles have a 25p surcharge on these rates.

To access it call 4444 - option 2 - option 1. Listen to and follow the prompts and wait until o2 texts you to tell you the bolt on is active,(about 2 days), or you will get charged extortionate amounts. the bolt is a ''one off'' and will remain active for the life of the sim card. Hope that helps. Its not free but reasonable to landlines offpeak.

Karin. The Intl Bolt on rates you quote are unfortunately incorrect. The current rates have no peak or offpeak and vary from 5p to 60p a minute to a landline, and 25p to £1 for a mobile call.

  • Thanks for the info my daughter is now using it to phone her BF who is working in Spain.
  • I personally prefer to use yourcall ;) I've tested it with my o2 payg sim and it works 100%

    Hope it helps someone.

But its a misleading site about the use of its number, because it suggests you can use 07744 from T-Mob and Voda and you cannot, and SF is far more up front of how you can use 07744 numbers. So i would stick with SF, in any case their line quality is usually better.
