I wanna adopt a cat

Well you could be a REALLY good mummy and buy her a radiator cat bed!0
-
We tried that - they slept under it ! they seemed to prefer boxes. Rule number one never spend any money on specal cat toys etc as they never use them !0
-
Very true - they'll ignore the catnip-scented toy mouse and play happily with the empty loo roll instead. My DH frequently struggles to put his tie on in the morning because there's a cat hanging off the end! Cat beds are all very well but human beds are better
JulesThe ability of skinny old ladies to carry huge loads is phenomenal. An ant can carry one hundred times its own weight, but there is no known limit to the lifting power of the average tiny eighty-year-old Spanish peasant grandmother.0 -
Actually....
even though my cat does have a radiator bed - she prefers to snooze on the Sky box at the moment!0 -
i have read both books by vicky halls and i wondered if anyone else had read any good cat behaviour books.
I love my pebbles and she is the best thing in world to me, even when she is naughty.
I got her from a lady that rescues cats and she microchips cats herself so i only had to pay £30 to cover the cost of her neutering, she was worth every penny.
I feed her iams but reading the above messages i am having my doubts now

I can't imagine life without my cats, although DH is currently suffering at the moment as they are indoors a lot more now the winter is here. To be honest I haven't found it much more expensive to have 2 than 1 and they certainly don't require a lot of space.
I'm constantly going round with a smile on my face at the moment because of the silly places they are sleeping, I keep a small basket on top of the tv for the remote controls and one of them has adopted it as a cat basket. This evening I had to remove her from my daughters bed so she could get into it.
We also live in an area that is overrun with mice. I don't appreciate the dead bodies but I do appreciate that I'd rather have them dead than running around my feetOrganised people are just too lazy to look for things

My cat has adopted my Sky box at the moment!
Fortunately it's the sort with the vents in the side not the top and she's only a little lightweight.
But she does grumble when I take her off it as she's not allowed to stay on it when I'm not home.
I was a bit worried about overheating.
(The skybox that is!)0 -
I would recommend getting a cat. I started off with one Begbie, then got another one Sid, then Begbie was knocked down so we got another one, Lola who had 4 kittens. We rehomed 2, another one went to my mum and we kept the other one Cosmo.
They are my babies, I can't imagine life without any of them, we get a lovely welcome home everyday and cuddles everynight before we go to sleep. Occasional furballs and attacks to our feet under the duvet but it's all part of their charm.
My brother-in-law hated cats all his life but my sister talked him into getting one for their daughter after they lost their dog and they haven't looked back, even my brother-in-law loves him.
Ours haven't been vacinated, they are 10,9,8 yrs old and have been to the vets a few times between them, mainly for fighting with other cats and getting bad cuts. Cosmo cost us £150 for a lot of tests and antibiotics last Christmas but that's the most ever in the 10 years I've had them.
They get about 1.5 tins of whiskas between them a day and about a 1kg bag of biscuits every two weeks. Occasionally a tin of asda smart price tuna flakes. If you spend a bit extra on Catsan litter it works out a lot less cost in the long run and saves you changing it as often as it works really well, no smells at all.
I saw that someone had posted that they sleep about 14 hours a day, ours sleep about 19-20 hours a day I'd say. Either on our bed, or my card making desk, we got them beds of their own but they didn't use them for long, anything that belongs to us is much better, I've seen them curled up on a dirty sock before.
After a long drawn out post, yes yes yes get a cat, you wont regret it. If you are a man then get a she cat as ours much prefers my husband and if your a woman then get a male as all our boys have been much closer to me than hubby. That's just my personal experience. Enjoy. xx
Learn from the mistakes of others - you won't live long enough to make them all yourself.0 -
