Can we get better deals on these kitchen appliances ?

We're going to be buying some kitchen appliances in the very near future and these are what we think are the best deals available at the moment as far as energy efficiency, warranties and price.
Were looking at buying from Empire Direct with one of there Edextra cards which currently offers free 3 year warranties on a lot of items.
Washing Machine:
Bosch WAE24363GB Empire Direct £299.99
A+,A,B Energy Rating
2 years labour and parts warranty from bosch
+ 1 year extra from empire direct
Tumble Dryer:
Bosch WTE84307GB Empire Direct £329.99
B Energy Rating
2 years labour and parts warranty from bosch
+ 1 year extra from empire direct
Fridge Freezer:
Hotpoint RF175BP Empire Direct £249.99
A+ Energy Rating
5 year parts warranty, 1 year labour from Hotpoint
+ 2 years extra labour from empire direct
Gas Cooker:
Hotpoint GW38G Empire Direct £319.99
5 year parts warranty, 1 year labour from Hotpoint
+ 2 years extra labour from empire direct
Were first time house buyers and dont have masses of money to splash about so we think warranties are important to stop future expenditure over the next few years.
Anyone have any better deals ?
Im a bit put off Hotpoint as a brand due to my mothers brand new washing machine breaking after only a few months and the nightmare she is having getting it repaired.
Thanks

Yes. I'm fairly sure there are better deals than those.
Pop each one into Google's 'Shopping' search link and see what you get.
I'll do the first one for you on the Bosch WAE24363GB Washing Machine:
http://www.google.co.uk/products?q=Bosch+WAE24363GB&btnG=Search+Products&hl=en
The cheapest one I can see is at £279.99 from HyperEshop.com
However, Delivery and also as to 'whether they have the item currently in stock', also need checking out.
I hope that helps.

Take a look at the website http://www.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/. If you look at 'Advice and Help' they have buyers' guides and you can post specific questions on the forums. Even thought it is tradespeople who answer the questions they are very patient and helpful! They are good at explaining which types of appliance are more likely to go wrong than others and also which 'names' we think of as being better quality which, actually, aren't any longer.
I'd balance the initial price/warranty very carefully. You'd be very unlucky if all the appliances went wrong in the first few years so you might want to think about putting, say, £10 a month into an account to cover it rather than pay extra to get a longer warranty.
Sometimes it is worth looking for local appliance places that do graded or blemished products. The blemish is often just a little dint where you wouldn't see it - you might find advertisments in the back of your local newspaper.
For online purchases, the only comparison site I've found which is any good is KELKOO where there are also rating for the customer service for the online suppliers. I'm about to buy a couple of new appliances and, knowing the model I want, have sourced the best supplier (on the basis of both cost and service) on KELKOO.
PS A member of staff in B&Q said that Hotpoint were now imassively improving their products and service due to the poor reputation they had. However, I'd only buy Hotpoint if the price were so low it was worth the gamble!0 -
Thanks but there not directly comparable due to warrany differences.
Also Hypershop price is without VAT
Delivery is £10 more
Empire deal is better by far lol0 -

From a quick look I can see both tumble dryer and washing machine for £20 less each. For the hassle of having to wait in for separate retailers, perhaps it isn't worth it.
However, you can get 2% cashback by going through quidco and there is some evidence that they occasionally have discount codes. It's worth googling for "empire direct codes" or similar.
You need to clear your cookies before you go through quidco or it won't count.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere (please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. How much will you be paying for insurance on all those? It's normally very expensive and not worth it, imho.
I'd be tempted to put the money in the bank and let is accumulate to buy the new appliance when it breaks, as insurance normally doesn't pay out for normal wear and tear.
Our Nationwide card used to offer a free year's insurance over and above the manufacturer's guarantee, for free....Member of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19
Balance 19th April '07 = minus £27,640
Balance 1st November '09 = mortgage paid off with £1903 left over. Title deeds are now ours.0 -
The warranties are all manufacturer standard + the extra added on by empire when you take out their edextra card which is something like £29.99
So thats not bad at all compared ot the likes of comet who wants over £100 per item !!0 -
Maybe I have been unlucky but over 35 years of buying appliances they mostly seem to die after about 5 and a half years. So I now don't bother with the waranties as they are usually up by the time things go wrong. But that is just my experience. Though I have a Hoover washing machine (expensive) and a cheap Beko freezer both over 6 years old. So I would reccommend those.Anyone who lives within their means suffers from a lack of imagination:beer:
