Gift ideas for mums-to-be

Can anyone recommend a gift idea for a friend who will be having a baby shortly. I don't want to buy anything for the baby at the moment (there will be plenty of time for that!) nor the standard toiletries etc. I'm looking for something both personal and practical (not a book of instruction) for the expectant mum at the 34-40 week stage.

Any ideas?

  • What about making her a voucher book that she can redeem (With a bit of notice....) before or after baby...

    You could include

A Girlie night ( I'll bring the wine)

An hour to yourself ( I'll Look after baby)

Girly shopping date ( I'll push the pram, and carry the bags)

I'll do your Ironing (proceed with Caution LOL)

I'll do your shopping (if you give me a list)

My minds gone blank now, but I'm sure others will have more ideas.

  • I bought "How to be a little sod" with my first - It was very funny. I also recommend "Babies" by Dr Christopher Green.

I think when I was pregnant - I wanted it to be about me not just the baby - so I liked being given things that were pampering orientated. Also I took CDs into the delivery suite - perhaps you could look at a new CD for her to take with her to hospital?

Well that's another option but I think she could just use olive oil so not really MSE :D
