Dell Inspiron 1300 £387 inc delivery :)

Options
Goto https://www.dell.co.uk then goto Dell home systems on the next page click on the shop by e-value link in the first box place 305 and in the second N11135a

under the Basic at home 3 year tab chose 90-Day Collect and Return service [subtract £94.00]

then on the Primary Battery tab change that to 4 Cell 35Whr Primary Battery [subtract £11.75]

price then comes up at £387

I'd be tempted to keep the other battery mind, but not bad price for a wireless enabled laptop.

There is nothing weak about the processor - I have a a laptop with the same processor and it does the job great. :)

It is the standard processor fitted to most entry level laptops - some use even slower processors. If you know of a new laptop sub-£400 with a more powerful processor, please feel free to start a new thread to post details!

Of course its not the fastest, most powerful processor available, but then I have a desktop if I want to start carrying out complicated video editing. (Note that the laptop as configured does not have a dvd writer anyway - only a dvd reader)

I would however agree that the smaller battery may not be a wise decision - I have a 43WH battery in my laptop & that barely lasts 2 hours. I'd opt for the 53WH battery for the extra £11.75 - afterall the advantage of a laptop is that you want it to be mobile.

And don't forget to purchase via Quidco or other cash back facililty. You can actually get this as low as £374

    £399 using the code above
    -£17 5% off pre-VAT amount with Quidco
-£ 8 2% purchases via an Egg money card until 10th December
    =£373

PS: I wouldn't drop to the lower capacity battery either & the machine includes a CDRW/DVD so you can burn CDR/W's it's just that you can't burn DVD's. The chances are that you don't actually need to do this very often anyway so no great loss.
