Help - Air cadets/Army Parade shoes Boys Size 4 or 5

Hi

My son has recently joined the air cadets and needs some new or recon parade shoes. The only problem is he is a boys size 4 or 5.

Any ideas where I can buy some - preferably in the North West (based in Chester) so he could try them on but will mail order if required.

Have tried ebay without success.

Thanks in advance

  • Is there a local army surplus store near you? When my stepson joined air cadets we got him a pair from our local one - they were recons, he tried them on in the shop and I think we paid around £7 for them. They are usually really nice if you just call them first to check if they have any. Also, some have agreements with local air/army cadets to offer a discount (usually 10%).

I hope your son enjoys air cadets, my stepson has been going for two years and absolutely loves it - unfortunately I ended up taking on the role of treasurer (spent two hours today trying to make it all tally up!).
  • Hi Bunglegirl

I've tried both stores in Chester without luck. I'll try phoning around Widnes, Warrington and if needs be Liverpool & Manchester.

    Thanks

We use Millets or other similar stores, if his feet are still growing it might be worth asking if they have any of the correct size in stores at the squadron, I always send too small shoes etc to be put into stores.

I hope he enjoys it my two have had amazing experiences over the last few years.

  • Hi Nearlyrich

Great idea. I'll gladly give a donation to the funds if they have any smaller size shoes in the stores.

    Thanks

  • I was in the cadets for years and had a great time, hope he's enjoying it.

If i remember rightly RAF Sealand's not far from Chester, why not try the NAAFI on the base, if he takes his ID along they'll let him on base to use the shop. I used to use Leuchars occasionally. They're probably as cheap as anyone for a new pair, why not start a swap scheme up within the squadron for used pairs. Not very helpful for the larger sizes to start with but eventually you'll have a collection of most sizes
