I've too recently received a letter stating that they will up my interest from 15% - 21%, what the heck is going on? I've luckily cleared that card.... oh and a lot of cc lenders are not giving out cards anymore... or shall I rather say, not better cards.Smile more often, it's FREE :hello: Live on £4000 for a year stalker!

virgin upped mine same as yours several months ago - 35%!
0% due to come to an end in Nov and I will pay it off the day before... be warned, if you have 0% balances they try and get you to do more transfers so the 0% ones will get paid off before the 35% ones once the deal ends. I'll be cancelling my card on 15th Nov after about 6 years and I'll tell them why!0 -
I got the Virgin credit card because it offered 0% balance transfer for 13 months. After a year it was all cleared. With another promotional balance transfer rate at 4.9%, I transfered other cards' debts onto the Virgin card. I always paid monthly on time, I set up a standing order to pay the credit cards every month and I made sure the payment reached to Virgin few days before payment due date so I don't miss any payment. However, after a couple of months having 4.9% on the card, Virgin put it up to 21.9% because 'I missed a payment'! I then check all the printed statements and realised within 5 months the statement due date was put forward 7 days. ie. Used to be 12th every month then now it's 5th. They put a day or two forward every month. I didn't notice and hence didn't change my standing order going out date. I was gutted, wrote a formal complaint letter but they insisted I had to pay the higher interest rate. Then, I successfully got a new Abbey Zero credit card. 0% balance transfer with no transfer fee. So now, I don't owe Virgin anything. : )
Avoid Virgin card after you finish with the promotional offer with them. It's MBNA, not worth it. They rang me twice today trying to get me to do a new balance tansfer since I paid their card off in August. Told them I wasn't interested, just haven't got round to close my account after what they had done with statement date! Even the first operator was surprised and agreed to me that was no good!0 -
I have a direct debt with virgin so I dont miss any payments but they seem to just want to take the p**s as much as they can! I have never been over my limit or missed a payment and im so angry they make enough money without making more while so many of us are struggling at the moment!!0

Ive Just come off my 0% balance transfer with virgin, they then put it up to 35%. After many phone calls, complaining about the fact the % rate has never been on any of my statements, so i was never aware of how much it could be, i got through to someone who could maybe change my rate. I moaned a little more saying if I'd of know this i never would of taking the offer, within 20 seconds of me taking a breath they reduced i to 25%.
Not great but better.

If like me there is nothing on your statement making you aware of your % they will give a little.
Hope this helps0 -
Virgin have just done this to my husband. And it was the straw that broke the camels back. He is now applying for a DMP with the CCCS as we just cannot afford the repayments. I just hope Virgin realise what problems they are causing. I guess they have their reasons.
