A word of advice to anyone with a new patio buying new wooden furniture.

Put your new furniture on the lawn, or gravel etc, and if the weather is fine, give it a really good soaking with a hose-pipe.

Several yrs ago ( when we could afford it) we had new patio & new furniture from Home base - paying thousands for the patio and hundreds for the furniture. Looked lovely. After a couple of days hard rain, the patio was stained with the dark brown wood preservative/stain from the furniture.
I noticed after we had our furniture changed, and half the patio re-laid, that they now put labels on the furniture to warn about this.
CS at Homebase said they had had loads of peeps complaining about this "leaking" of the garden furniture, and everyone claimed to have had a new patio - but then if you have spent all that £ on the patio, surely it would be natural to get new furniture !!
    Anyway.
The stains did eventually wear out with sun, rain and time......but to save yourself the heartache in the meantime, I would recommend you give it the Heavy British Wet Weather treatment first

Not much left in the Chepstow store....
We got the rigid side 5ft paddling pool for £1.75! (75% off) which has to be the best bargain, (provided we get a summer next year!)
Solar light for £3.75 (25% off)
Some Chewits fizzy mix sweets, 300g for 50p- munching them right now and rather yummy! Also the Twisted chocolate bars (yummy creme egg filling!) are 1/2 price @23p.
    Hope this helps someone.
