Debt company want full payment!

Hi guys

Not sure if I’ve posted on the right forum – but I really need your advice please.

Basically, I’m paying and managing my debt through Payplan – today I received a letter from Triton Credit Services in relation to my Natwest Credit Card – amount owed £1214.80 and they want payment of the full amount within 14 days!!!! I don’t have this sort of money and I don’t know what to do. When I ring them (which I haven’t got the guts to do anymore) they are so persuasive and quite threatening that I cant seem to cope – so I always write letters to them.

I was paying them through Payplan last year and every 3 months they contact me for an increase in payment – I thought I could afford it, so increase my payments and took the debt out of Payplan – big mistake. My payments have risen from £30 - £90 which I can no longer afford – I’m struggling.
So, on the advice of Payplan I’ve brought the debt back into my debt management plan and will pay them £35 each month…………I’ve written to them informing them of this and I guess they aren’t liking what I’ve done. Don’t know what to do now?!?!? I’ve emailed Payplan for advice, but I can’t/daren’t ring Triton – I’m full of cold, feel like rubbish and they are hassling me now.

Any advice please...........??

  • Refer Triton back to Payplan

I've dealt with them before and they are bullies, because they have bullied you once they think they can do it again.

Always answer their calls, tell them politely that you have submitted a full statement of affairs through Payplan and to contact them. They will say they cannot deal with third parties - this is nonsense, they just want to put pressure on you.

They will huff and puff, and threaten, but ultimately back-off once they realise you won't change your position.

If they continue calling and writing tell them you are making a complaint about harassment. Forward all your letters to Payplan using your barcode forms, don't even bother calling them.

Please be strong, don't take notice of their bullying and don't give in to them.

  • Thank you so much - I thought it was just me having to deal with Triton and I feel so alone.
Yes you are right, they are bullies - it's horrible. I know I've got myself into debt, but I am doing all I can to pay the debt back.
    Thanks again

Have you ever received a notice of assignment from the OC stating this DCA have purchased the account or are acting for the OC ? If they have purchased the account ,why not request a copt of the CCA .

  • Sorry - I dont know what the abbreviations mean......OC and DCA?
    Also, what's a CCA?

    Thanks :-)
  • Loopy,
OC is Original Creditor and DCA is Debt Collection Agency.A CCA is a Consumer Credit Agreement which you can ask your Original creditor for if you send him a postal order for a £1.If he does not produce the CCA then he cant take you to court.
