question for those who've spent nectar points in Argos

I had about £150 worth of Nectar points and spent about £120 in Argos. The cashier told me they will have to take all the points off the card and refund me the difference in cash

Is this 'normal'? Should I complain to Nectar?

Sounds as if the cashier made a mistake

Normally they can just deduct the amount of points you're spending. The cashier probably deducted too many points from your nectar card and it was probably easier to give you the cash back than try and reinstate the nectar points.

having worked at argos for 4 years i should know,they should only take £120 worth of points from your nectar card

I certainly wouldn't complain to Nectar - I'd rather have the cash in the first place

when i did that they deducted the points i think 250 points per 2 pounds or something and they could only do that in that denomination,
so if i bought something for a fiver they would deduct 750 points and gimme 1 quid back.

thanks all. still trying to decide whether i should bother with a complaint to Nectar. I don't collect as many nectar pts these days anyway, so i think cash might be better for me as I was just thinking of cancelling the card anyway
