Suggestions for new TV please

Hi there :)

Bloomin telly stopped working Wednesday night. Decided to replace it rather than have it fixed (it's about 5 years old), so I was hoping someone might know of any good deals on at the moment.
We're off to Big W (Woolworths), Tesco & Asda, and the Catalogue exdisplay shop tonight, but any other suggestions would be gratefully received.
Oh, it might help to tell you what we are after!
OH wants a 28inch widescreen - boys & their toys. I would like teletext. Not bothered for integrated digital at the moment as we have a freeview box, but it would be interesting to know how much they cost at the mo. And does anyone know of any that are still black and NOT SILVER?

Thankyou everyone in advance :T
Poing ;)

My dad bought a Sanyo wide screen silver 28" tv from Asda for £179 on Monday with Fasttext. I think it had 2 scart sockets.

They also had the same spec in a make I have never heard of for £159?

    Thought they were very reasonable.

    Good luck

    Hi,

This is probably not much help, but regarding black tellies - no you can't get them anymore (at least not in larger sizes).

We had to get one a couple of months ago and ended up with one from Tesco (ours is less than 28'' though... not sure what size it is actually!:o ) for like £150 (minus vouchers, and double points). It's silver. (Our main consideration was the price rather than anything else -- we have a 2-year-old who likes climbing on the telly ).

If you have an x-catalogue shop near you then you can really pick up some bargain electricals. Occasionally they have a 50% off everything promotion.

Large screen TVs can usually be picked up for £120-150 ish.

I picked up a philips 14 inch with teletext for £45 and an alba DVD for £12.

There are a couple you can choose to have in black:
    http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/5378177/Trail/C%24cip%3D28956.Sound%2Band%2Bvision%3EC%24cip%3D29029.Televisions%3EC%24cip%3D29032.Widescreen%2Btelevisions.htm - JVC - £280 (Same model is £259 at Amazon)

I'm sure that there is also a black one made by Samsung or Sanyo - can't remember where I saw it as I have been on numerous sites looking for tvs myself. Ebay is another one to try.

Found it! Model is Sanyo CE28FWN5BK-B and is on Tesco site at the mo - quite a bit more expensive though I think it comes as part of package. Sanyo 28FWN6BK is also a black one. You could always try kelkooing them and seeing if you can get them separately - or as I said before - on eBay. Hope that helps.
