Sorry, but what more do you want to hear? (I mean that genuinely, not sarcastically) Homersimpson has given you the link to the info you need. If you want any more info, you need to ask for it specifically, rather than just bumping your thread up as people don't know what info you are after and therefore can't help you.

You do have my sympathies but the first thing I would do is tell hubby to stop shouting. It achieves nothing and makes you feel even worse. He should be supporting you and helping you find some resolution here.

Hope you sort it (and him!) out soon.
  • sorry but homersimpsons link doesnt load on my computer

  • If you have got something in writing about this debt ie that shows the original debt was for £39 then go and visit the bank who you hoped to get the new mortgage from and explain. Had they agreed the loan in principle before YOU told them about the default? It is still possible they can lend you the money if they are confident about the problem. This has happened to me so it can be done; if they can't help go to a smaller building society and try.

Try and get a letter from Centrica/Ontel confirming the debt is paid; also ask Experian to send you a form so you can challenge the information, they then contact the company for you. Don't despair, just explore all options. Personally I think threatening legal action at this stage will be non-productive for you.

Make sure your hubby apologises and treats you well before you buy any house with him.

  • Just a couple of questions if I may.
Does a company have to tell you and issue you with a default notice? If so they havent.
If the above is the case is there an act or something to say this?
Also I have singed like I said no credit aggrement with them. All I gave them was my name and address so do I have any standing there.
Is it reasonable for me to say that if they had contcated me by phone or letter then I could have sortred this out before I go inot this mess.
Thanks very much for the links am just going to try them
