pressie ideas needed please

I need a little pressie for an 18yr old- she had my (injured) horse all summer - to provide companionship for her horse .

Horsey now moving back in with me as in theory he is 'fixed' plus she is about to start Uni .... however she going to continue living with her parents and commute into London for lectures etc.

I would like to give a little pressie for doing star job looking after horsey.

I would prefer it to be something towards uni but since she isn't going to be living in student digs I'm struggling for ideas.

Could always get something horsey but again not sure what as she seems to have all the relevant gear!

Any ideas?

  • What about some nice stationary such as a nice academic year diary? Students are always needing paper and pens, etc and when I was at uni (only a year ago since I graduated) I always ran out of paper when I could least afford to buy more, so even if she's already brough some, it will come in useful later in the year. You could maybe make up a stationary hamper?

Alternatively you could buy her a voucher for Blackwells (if theres one near her Uni) so she could put it towards core uni texts, or if she has an onsite bookshop in her student union see if they sell vouchers. At my old uni (Leeds) they had a bookshop in the student union which sold all the books we needed on reading lists, etc and I think they accepted normal book tokens but you could also set up an account that parents etc could add money to. Alternatively amazon vouchers could be used for books as I often got mine second hand from there (and if she doesn't need books she could always get DVD's, CD's etc.

What is she going to study? A new lab coat if she's a scientist could be an idea?

I *think* she is going to be studing Physics and maths. Although she may have dropped the maths bit.
Do physics people need lab coats? (I did Biology & chemistry and have no idea about physics, LOL) that would be a fab idea if so.
Although like the stationary hamper idea too.

  • I think physicists have to wear lab coats too, especially if they do physical chemistry modules, but I'm not 100% sure. I can ask my housemate when I get home if you don't get a definitive answer from anyone else though as he's doing a PhD in something to do with Physics. I did Genetics though, so likewise I'm not completely sure about Physics as I never went near that building!

Alternatively a lab report book could be useful.

I think the stationary hamper is a good idea.

When i was a student I loved my stationary. I used to buy more than i ever needed.

Also if she drinks then a nice bottle of wine on top :)
