So what did you think of the new stuff. THere was a lot of it 100 pages worth. Did you notice? Any bits you liked or didn't like. I'd love feedback (gentle) from those who've read it

I think it went into deeper depth than the first book Martin (which suits better as i found, the first book for me was just a refresher on paper) but this book is more than that, there is more meat for me to get my teeth into. I find both of your books easy to understand and in clearly understandable sections. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Only half way thru and didn't read the first version, but as a busy mum to a terrible 2 i found it really easy to read... read first 100 pages in one sitting which i never do...
Really looking forward to the rest of it, and to sharing the info with my friends - who are more than a little reluctant to take advice from a website, but if it's in a book it's a different matter!!! Lots of sound advice, just like the website...
well done you, will be recommending to all :T

Luvverly book, Martin, borrowed from the library your first book, but BOUGHT this one. Havn't read it as it's a Christmas present, so will borrow it back later. Actually bought it from Amazon, using part of the freebie voucher re credit card deal. Don't want you to think I go round BUYING things all the time. Bad habit.Cheers Big Ears.0

I'm half way through the book and have to laugh as I can actually hear Martin saying some of the phrases I've heard time and time again on radio two. Ended up nipping back to Amazon so some friends and family members better watch out as Father Christmas is going to be putting them on a money diet.0

I just love all those dieting phrases! I only got mine today and I dont usually BUY books but hopefully it will be classed as an investment! I just know I will enjoy it as its easy to digest. When books are stuffy and full of jargon they dont get read, which is why Ive never bough a money/finance book before, but after using this site I considered it a good idea.Annual Grocery budget 2018 is £1500 pa £125 calendar month £28.84 pw for 3 adults0

I love the diet analogy too, having been in the past a yo-yo slimming dieter as well as a yo-yo money dieter. For that reason alone, the book is one of the most entertaining finance books I've ever looked at.
For me, the big way that money dieting is aking to slimming dieting is that at the start it feels like deprivation, but gradually the feeling of deprivation is replaced by a feeling of control and well-being and pride.
After years of eating Macdonalds and mars bars, it took a long time for a slimming diet including fruit and salads to feel like a pleasure, but gradually I started to find fruit as satisfying as chocolate and now it's become second nature and I can drive past a Macdonald's without a second glance.
In the same way I'm slowly I'm starting to get a 'taste' for money saving, and I'm hoping that if I keep up the effort, I'll soon find saving as pleasurable as spending and be able to pass by a department store or shoe shop without a second glance!!!!!0 -
I've just bought the book - didn't read the first one - but love this to bits
It's so easy to understand. I'm finding it really useful
It's a shared investment for all the family. Anyone can borrow as long as I get it back!!!Comping, Clicking & Saving for Change0 -

Got the Money Saving Diet about a week ago. Left it on the table when my daughter was here and she told me she had been thumbing through it while I was out (that's why I left it in such a prominent place) She quoted bits to me (good, the message is getting through!). I love the little anectdotes and admire Martin's brass neck - asking for another £30 off an already-reduced item in John Lewis and getting it for a song. Don't know if I'm quite that bold but the book is so good I have ordered three copies for my grown up kids (daughter included) and on the strength of it have ordered them each a copy of the new 'Thrifty Ways for Modern Days' as well, plus one for myself. Probably the best Christmas present they will get from anyone, as everyone needs to learn how to make their cash go further. Especially my kids!0
