Debenhams return question

Hi, im not sure if this is the right place to post, but was wondering if someone could help me?
I recently bought a dress from Debenhams, have wore it twice and one of the ruffle layers on the dress has come off it, the sewing must of been of poor quality. Anyway i have the receipt and wish to return it (cost me £60, and should be better quality for the money i paid).
Anyway the problem is, i paid by debit card..... but i no longer have that card as the chip went dodgy on it, so i now have its replacement from the bank e.g. the issue number and expiry date are now different.
What can i do in this situation as i just want a full refund. ( i have till saturday to be eligible for the full refund according to my receipt)
Thanks

As long as the card number is same, it is fine. I have been in a similar situation.
Please post whether they accepted the return without quibbles.;)0 -

The date on your receipt shouldn't make any difference either. if you were returning the dress because you didn't like it then it would be relevant. if you are returning it because it's faulty then the date doesn't matter. Obviously if you'd had the dress for a year then they could argue you'd had your wear out of it but if you have only worn it a couple of times then it comes down to ' must be fit for purpose'.Look after the pennies and the £££s will look after themselves0 -
shop should credit to (old) card- that will create a credit balance, which should get transferred to your new card a/c.Long time away from MSE, been dealing real life stuff..

Your new card is just that - a new card only.
It is still the same old account so they're won't be any problem refunding onto a differently numbered card as the two are automatically linked when cards are exchanged/damaged etc.
As for getting the refund prior to the date on the receipt, that ONLY applies when you're taking something back because you don't like it/it doesn't fit/changed your mind etc. It des not affect your statutory rights under the Sales of Goods Act.0 -
I wouldn't even mention that it is a new card. It's the same account, the bank has just reissued the card. Hand it over and they won't even notice.
Agree that as you are returning the dress due to a fault, the timescale isn't the same as if you re just changing it because you decided you didn't want it. I don't believe there is a limit, the store just has to agree that it is within a "reasonable" time frame. The dress is clearly not fit for purpose if you wore it twice and part of it fell off.
