Wii fit. Are any high street stores taking forward orders?

Having got my son's birthday out of the way (his pressie was a day at legoland, very successful), I've turned my mind to Christmas.

We want to get him a Wii Fit. I'm not prepared to pay over the odds, surely, in the three months until then I can get one for retail, without having to glue myself to the internet for 3 days (which is what I did to get the Wii console last year)?

So does anyone know if any stores are taking forward orders ? I'm going into the city centre this p.m. so can go into one or two stores if necessary, just thought asking on here might save me some time.

  • Woolworths, HMV, GAME, and gamestation are stores that I know take names and phones numbers on a waiting list although there are no guarantees. Hope that helps.

You'll be lucky I'm afraid. Very few places will take orders - Game will just ask you to phone every morning to see if they've had any delivered and they MAY reserve one for you but no guarantees. HMV have just cancelled by email all their orders placed online so far.
  • Depending on budget, Game do a few packages that may be of use if you really cant find one and it's urgent. Wii fit plus two other games for £99, or wii fit and a non-slip mat & memory card for £97... i ordered one of these due to being sick of website hopping with no luck, and reservations with multiple companies.

Well it isn't urgent, we have 3 months before xmas.

Woolworths are the only people to take my number to phone me, but I guess they've got a very long list to get thru.
Game said I have to phone every morning at 9:00, and they'll keep one until 10:00 a.m. So I guess people in full time jobs are excluded from that then.

Similarly, HMV said just be there when they open their delivery every day (yeah right, I mean it isn't as if I need to earn money or anything ...)

So, it's back to website watching I guess

I wish I knew someone who worked for a store.

  • I recently went into 2 different huge Tesco stores & both had them in stock but only sell one per Customer (which is fine for you). It'd be worth ringing Tesco main helpline to search for a store that has stock near to you. I managed to buy 2 on Ebay. Delivery charges look well expensive but they're very heavy. I paid £130 but got a few games with mine, & paid £90 (all in) for the 2nd one. They are available but best thing I found is to find one's where the listing ends really late at night or quite early in the morning or around 3pm during the week.

    I got one, I got one !!!!

I spent the last 2 weeks watching the Wii consoles website, but everyone was charging £99+ for them.

Anyway I had to go thru the city centre today, and as I was passing Game, I casually wandered in, and said "I don't suppose you have any wii fit in stock?"

"Yes" says assistant "we had a big delivery in this morning, we have a few spare"

So I've got it, £69.99 , now hidden away for christmas (well it will come out to be tested in a few days).

    It can be done !!

The irony is, that they will probably become more available and cheaper now the family version is coming out... Well done though :D
