Real flowers as cake decorations: what can I use?

Hi,
I am making a cake and want to use real flowers from the garden on top for decoration. They don't have to be edible, but if they aren't, I need suggestions for ones which won't leave say a poisonous sap or something on the surface of the cake.

Nasturtiums, marigolds and violets are the most common as they are completely edible, just make sure they haven't been sprayed with any pesticides or anti-fungal treatments whether intentionally or because they are near something that has

OK thanks! My mum is a keen gardener and she doesn't use pesiticides, so I'll see if she has any of those. I was thinking of violets, but don't know whether they're around at this time of year!! *has no idea about plants
