**reflective Patches For My Jacket**

I have a Hi-Viz jacket for horse riding and I want to find a patch for on the back of it saying SLOW or HORSES or anything really.

I can't find anything on the net (even on ebay) I'm searching for "reflective+sign+jacket" and that kind of thing.... I can't think what else to type in.... I'm totally stumped

(It's an ex-workwear jacket and already has a bonded sign that needs covering.)

Hope someone can point me in the right direction.

You can purchase reflective tabards to go over your jacket with these words on from most horse riding type shops such as Countrywide etc http://www.countrywidefarmers.co.uk/countrystores/index.htm

hello jay-jay, I assume that the background colour of your high-visibilty waistcoat is
    fluorescent yellow?

If so, I think that your cheapest option for covering up a patch area would be by
purchasing High-visibilty sew on reflective tape. From this gentleman on ebay :
( I have found hime to be very reliable and his prices are very good too)

(if the hyperlink below doesn't work, try an ebay UK search for tapemate)

    Thank you everyone :)

Sheel, I had a look on that site. I really need a solid patch to cover up the original lettering which had been scraped off but has left a right mess on the back of the jacket.

Middlers, The jacket I have is Goretex with lots of reflective tapes, it's just a patch on the back that I need to cover up the mess.

questor, I bought some 2" reflective tape and have glued it on to cover the messy patch but it looks a bit meesy, I was hoping that I could buy an actual badge to make it look smarter.

The problem is that I had to use thinners to remove as much of the old badge as posiible. While it's removed the lettering, it's left a horrible blue/green mess on the back which I've covered up with three strips of 2 inch reflective tape. It does the job but it looks messy.

Thanks for looking though, I really appreciate the help.

I'm not into horses, as such, but wouldn't it be a good idea for him/her to have dayglo covering, wherever possible, too?

From another roadusers perspective, there are times when the rider could be obscured - or if you fell off - & the horse wouldn't be so obvious!!

Yeah, We have hi viz yellow exercise rugs on them too which is like a big sheet that covers their back and bum :). We don't ride at night or even in failing light, it's more of an extra safety measure for riding during the day.

We have flashing leg bands for both horse and rider, flashing vests and reflective tail guards just in case the light's bad..... We're not like the daft ones that ride in the dark with a tiny refective leg band  .

That's EXACTLY the same as we have :D Same jackets, same exercise rug.... but I still want a nice badge to cover up the bit where the 'police' badge is ;)

  • I was in Dunelm the other day and they have some fluorescent material which I am sure you could make into a patch then add wording. Just a word of caution though, be careful what wording you use. I have a 3 yr old pony who is ridden on the road with my daughter wearing a tabard saying "young pony" and I have another saying "young rider". The Police have advised me not to use them because if there was an accident and it was not my fault in any way what so ever, if the tabard said it was a young pony or rider, the other person could have a claim against me as I had an unsafe pony / rider on the road.

    Thanks Dazzie :)

I eventually my jacket just has the reflective strips on, never did find a badge.

I've heard that about the signs saying 'young pony' etc. My daughter has a 'Please pass wide and slow' tabbard for that very reason.

Our ponies are barefoot transitioning now so we've not been out on the roads much anyway
