Mortgage and Experian

Hi All,

Does anyone know which mortgage lenders check just Experian when they do the credit check?

Or is it likely that they check both Experian and Equifax? Reason for asking is that my report on Experian is much better than Equifax, and would be greatly beneficial to me if the lender just checked the one report. Or is this wishful thinking??

Many thanks :)

When you say 'much better' - is there adverse credit on the Experian one?:

Experian tends to be the one used the most with lenders

  • GMAC and TMB use experian only!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I believe Abbey use experian and also bank of Scotland. A whiff of adverse over £250 don't bother with bank of Scotland.

    Thanks Guys,

I have no adverse credit whatsoever on my Experian. And it also shows my current mortgage with SPML.

Equifax, on the other hand has 3 defaults which have all been settled.

    Any ideas???

We bought the house in May 2007 for £205,000. I do not know the value now. I have played around with the online valuations but I know that they are not realistic. We took out an 85% mortgage on a repayment basis and the current outstanding amount is £173,600. This is at 6.29% APR

    Thanks for the help :)
