sell endowment policy

hi,

I have tried without success ( 3 times ) to claim from standard life for mis-selling me my endowment policy, they say there cut off point is 1989, my policy was taken out in 1987.
I am now thinking of cutting my losses and selling my policy and to take out a re-payment morgage for the remainder of the term, which is 5 years.
are there any pitfalls to look out for going down this road, and, or, is there a company out there who would be worth contacting to sell the policy too,
who would give you a good return.
