Gift money from Mother to children?

How much savings money can a mother give to her children legally.

E.g If someone had say £10k in saving. Can they gift £4k to there children?

If possible please provide website link to source. Tried looking and cannot find info out.

Thanks.

a mother (or non mothers too) can legally give anything she likes to anyone she likes

if however she deliberately deprives herself of funds so she can get money from other tax payers, that's fraud
