tempur mattress - excellent deal

I had been scouring the stores and the internet etc recently to buy a Tempur mattress but as you know they are quite pricey. I found back in action via this site and had a look on their website. They offer to match anyones price plus an additional £25 off. Needless to say I went to work on other websites. The best offer I found was at back2.co.uk They are offering a Tempur 25cm king size mattress with 2 free traditional tempur pillows ( but would change them for ones of your choice (i got the med and large queen style) for an additional £20 for the 2) plus £12.50 delivery. I called backinaction.co.uk and asked them how much the same item would be, I then told them I could get the same item elseware cheaper plus the two free pillows. After a brief chat with her senior, the lady offered to match the price (I included the extra £20 for change of pillows and delivery fee just in case they rang the other company)less £25 and I got the 2 free pillows... all for £1068 If I ordered the item there and then ( this includes the v.a.t. exemption as my hubby has worn out knee joints) Well needless to say I ordered it.
Delivery (3 weeks later) was by 2 very helpful gentlemen who take it to the bedroom put it on the bed for no extra charge and they remove the packaging.
This was a saving of over £200 compared to other quotes for the same item (£500 saved if you had bought direct from Tempur)., plus the 2 pillows which were around £70.00 each!!!

Unlike other companies I didn't have to wait to claim the v.a.t. back they did it automatically after I filled in a form and faxed it back to them.

I went on the Tempur website to fill in my guarantee and printed it off.

It took about a week to get used to the mattress but it is the best money I have spent.

I had previously spent a couple of weeks trying out the ikea mattress with memory foam, dunlopillo and many other cheaper latex style mattresses and they just do not compare. My hubby is a big lad and "bottomed" all of them except for the Tempur. Furnitureland have them in stock if you want to try before you buy. They also quoted me £1395.00 for the same item and no pillows and £35 delivery. Plus you had to pay your vat and then wait 2 weeks to get it back from them if you met the criteria.

I contacted backinaction.co.uk to see if they would pricematch back2.co.uk for a Tempur 20cm mattress (160x200) with the 2 free pillows offer, but they told me they wouldn't do this, as back2.co.uk doesn't offer an installation service (thus giving them the excuse it wasn't a like-for-like comparison). Guess they recon their installation is worth the 120 quid price difference between, obviously I don't agree, and hence will be ordering from back2.co.uk.
  • We looked at getting a Tempur as we were both having back problems.

In the end the cost proved too much so we went for a Bodyshape impressions

Plenty of memory foam and I am a big lad 6 foot 5 and 22 stone! and the mattress does not "bottom out".

Was about half the cost of a tempur, and we are loving it. I dont doubt that Tempur is the best, but if you cannot stretch to that cost then this is a really good alternative.

And no more roll together anymore!

I tried ordering from this company last Christmas. I found a matress that was cheaper elsewhere so I phoned them up to ask them if they could beat the price. They asked for the company name. When I told them they said that the particular company were not selling Tempur ones and was mis-advertising.

With this info I phoned up the other company to ask them about the matresses. I told them what back in action told me without mentioning their name. They asked me if I got this info from back in action, and of course I said it was. They told me they were looking into legal proceedings with ths company because many other people had been told they same, even though they were selling Tempur ones. I ordered from them and saved over £100.

Very interesting. How do you get the VAT exemption for worn out knee joints?
  • Vat exemption form given by company and arthritus is one of medical complaints covered

(click on link, page can be slow, left hand side of page click on mattresses then you'll get list of products, one I bought was
ComfortSleep Premier 75 Visco Elastic Mattress click on more details and it will bring up all the options, dont forget the prices quoted on the site include VAT so if you are eligible you will be able to get VAT taken off after filling in form and sending it back to them by post or fax.)

I purchased the above memory foam mattress (see link) from EZL marketing around a year ago, it is just like the ones from Tempura but wow is it cheaper without losing any quality. I have suffered for 30+ years with chronic rhuematoid arthritis and tried many many different mattresses claiming to be just right for bad backs/joints. My physio told me the best thing to sleep on is memory foam so that there is less impact on the joints, especially the pillows because they are fantastic support for the neck joint.

Anyway after much searching I found the EZL marketing website. I purchased a 7in deep mattress for my double bed and got 2 pillows thrown in for nothing (not sure if they are doing this offer still) and it was delivered within 2 days of them receiving the VAT exemption form back. I paid in total around £350 for the lot inc p&p.

The mattress came vacumm packaged in a large roll, you just unzip it and let it flop out, it takes around 3 hours to reach its proper depth and then it was ready to be made up as normal. It comes with a soft zip up fleecey protective cover too which can be removed for ease of washing, so do the pillows. Now I would say it took me around 3 to 4 nights to get used to the weird sinking feeling you get when you first lay down and the fact that each time you move it moves with you (in a nice way) but I cannot express deeply enough how much pain this mattress and pillow have saved me. I can honestly say that it is the most comfortable bed I've ever had.

I broke my hip 2 years ago and had not had a good nights sleep since, but the mattress gives me just the right support without any impact on my joint and I hardly ever have any back pain anymore from a bad night. The other great thing is there's no roll together with these mattresses and my partner is a lot heavier than me lol!

All in all I would recommend a memory foam mattress to anyone who has bad joints and even if you haven't got an illness its like sleeping on air. However I would steer clear of just buying a topper as after all it will only be as supportive as your old mattress underneath, if you're gonna do it go for the 7" depth mattress.

Anyway hope this link helps someone, as I said they are very cheap and also do lots of other support products cheaper than I've seen them elsewhere.
    :p
  • But isn't that just a topper? It states now with 3 inches of memory foam, the remaining 4 inches appears to be normal foam. Therefore wouldn't a topper be cheaper?
    Middlers
  • Tempur: we had one. Great for backs but wait until summer, they get very hot and don`t cool down. Also beware of the chemicals given off, you`ll smell them for weeks.

We gave ours away and now sleep on deep feather toppers
