  • B&Q (Warehouse only as far as I know) are selling a bush 7" for £79ish, but they have a 10% off everything offer at the moment (ends Sunday), so worth a look if you are in the market for a mid price range model.

For £71 you cann't complain, the only thing it doesn't come with is a carry bag, car adapter is included.
They had a pallet full at my local B&Q Warehouse in Plymouth, not sure if they sell electricals in the normal B&Q's though.
  • Well I'm still chuffed to bits with my Medion 7" from Kwik Save (MSE Grabbit in the summer) that came with carry case and in-car kit for £59.99. Fantastic value!
Hopeless by name, hopeless by nature.

Just had an email from allcam.biz and their Shinco 1720 (better than the 1731a) is on clearance for £89 + delivery each. These are probably Refurbed units though:

IMHO this is a bargain price for a decent quality slim portable DVD player that supports DiVX.

  • Dixons are doing an 8 inch screen portable dvd player for £99.

Being a novice on these things, do any of them also come with an output socket and cable to play through a normal TV too?

If it's any help the Shinco (1720a) I posted about earlier has a composite out socket and comes with an appropriate cable (with 3 RCA leads).

The Mustek tablet DVD players I use in the car have a similar arangement, but also have an S-VHS socket (and cable) for higher quality output.

I bought the Shinco when they first came out from Firebox. It cost a whopping £199 for the 7 inch screen (this was 2 years ago). Yes it is a very good unit but my daughter has a cheaper Medion player and it does the job (ie plays kid's dvd). I suppose it depends on what you want it for.
No Matter what you do there will be critics.
