The only 'wearable' player with an 'inline' remote control or any sort of remote control at all in fact.
Holds about 12 CDs worth of music using WMA encoded at 128kbs.

I've read some very uncomplimentary reviews on the web about these MP3 players. I suggest you google with "Philips KEY015 512MB Flash audio player reviews" and see what you find before buying. I was tempted a year ago when they were about £45 at Argos but decided against and went for a Creative Muvo, which has been excellent.0

I just did google for that model and the first few sites I found were actually very complimentary, so It can't be as bad as all that. I definitely read some bad reviews, but they can't be that typical.0

Both myself and my girlfriend have these players. My girlfriend was due to buy herself an iPod. She's totally lost interest in that idea and has bought her sisters a pair of the Philips players.
I don't think they were ever £45 at Argos last year. Certainly they were in the Spring/Summer 2005 catalogue for £119, so it seems unlikely they would have them cheaper BEFORE that. They were £60 at Currys earlier in the year and £35 at Sainsburys recently.
The sound quality is good, remote control is convenient and it's small and light. Plus there's a free battery pack included. It's great for long distance travel. No need for a charger or computer to top up the power.
Highly recommended.0 -
I've had one of these for about a year, and for the price here it's a great little player for the money. From memory the on in Argos was a 128mb version. The one I have came from Argos after a tip from here where they had run out of stock of the 256Mb player and were subsituting that for this one. At the time it was £80 (or £120 if you ordered this particular model) and I'm sure it was pre iPod Shuffle, so a good deal.
It's a little fiddly moving between tracks if you are relying on the LCD display as it sort of rolls the track name upwards which in turn takes a couple of seconds for the next title to display. You can skip quickly between tracks by holding down skip, but this uses track numbers not names, so again you can sometimes go beyond where you aim and need to skip back a few.
Nice bits I like, it charges from your usb port when connected to change songs, single AAA battery enclosure included for use when the internal battery is flat, and a nice neck strap feels secure on the player when you are wearing it.0 -
had bought the 128mb one earlier this year i think it was.
as far as mp3 players go, it was a simple mp3 player (play, pause, track change, volume, no search over fascility), but it did the job.
will probably purchase this one for the extra memoery.
cheers to the posterTreat everyday as your last one on earth! and one day you will be right.0 -
It does have a fast search facility, in the form of 'Super Skip'. Together with the ability to read within folders you can reach the track you want, in seconds.
For instance, if each CD is stored in a separate folder you can skip between folders quickly and easily, by depressing the 'fast forward or 'rewind' buttons on the remote control for more than a couple of seconds, to get to the track that you'd like.0 -
By coincedence I bought this MP3 today for my son then I saw this post. However it was not £39.99 as I bought it from Hitchens and it was only £25.00.
There are Hitchens dotted throughout the UK, this one was in Widnes.
Thye are brand new boxed and complete.0 -

Was it the 512MB version that you got for £25 or a 256mb or 128mb ?0 -

Is Hitchins in Widnes Town Centre or is it in the market area? CheersDemocracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch. Liberty is a well-armed lamb contesting the vote.

as in my post I bought this model so it was the 512mb the same as the OP. It was Hitchens where the CO-OP used to be opposite KFC.
When I got out of the shop I thought I had bought the 256mb and when I asked the missus to show me the box it was the 512mb which made it a very good deal.0
