I just noticed that my RBS loan for 269 per month has not been paid since january (9 months). I know it sounds wreckless but i had not heard from the bank nor checked my account. At the start of the year the i took advice from here and set up a direct debit account and never included my loan in my sums. So 1st month it bounced and cancelled itself. Since then it never came back out and until now i have been oblivious. What do you suggest i do? Its very scary and i have been stressing for the last couple of days about it. Can somone please help me? I would have thought the bank would have sent me a letter.

Some things here don't add up.
1 Direct debits do not cancel themselves after one has bounced.
2 Why have you not checked your account?
3 The D/D would have been set up by the lender not you.
4 Have you moved at all - do you get normal mail?
5 If you have not checked your account and you have not received any correspondence is there a chance that the payments have been made?0 -
To expand on that - I had not checked my account as the account had been set up purely for direct debits - for example i put 1800 into an account each month and after calculating my direct debits that was enough so no need to check it.I thought if i go overdrawn then the bank will write to me and since i had heard nothing then i just left it. With regards to the cancelled direct debit - i had to cancel it to set it on the new account so there is a possibility that it has not been set up on the new account for whatever reason. Lastly i have moved over a year ago and i changed my address with the bank - i have 6 accounts with them all of which correspond with my new address so unless there is a clerical error at their end and they have changed my address on all accounts but not my loan then that could be it. Any more ideas anyone?0

I think you best bet it to contact RBS and explain the situation and see what they can advise.
