Advice needed please!!

Hi all! Sorry if this is the wrong forum but I think there are plenty of experts who may be able to help me here! I have an account with Nationwide which I rarely use anymore as I am also with Halifax. I have read that they maybe merging with the Derbyshire. I have around £6 in the NW. Now a few years ago a crafty mate of mine who I have lost touch with used to open several accounts with £100 a time with different building societies when many of them were being taken over/merging with banks so he would get a windfall when they merged. The question I would like to ask is if they do merge would I get a windfall if I was to put £100 in? Sorry for the long post & any advice would be much appreciated!

don't think so...normally it's only if you had money in before a merger/takeover is announced and this one is NW taking over loss making societies so no windfalls I'm afraid!0
