What do I do with Chestnut Spread

Last year I bought a jar of Chesnut Spread from France, and I don't know what to do with it.
Do you just spread it on toast like chocolate spread, or can you make something with it. If so, does anyone have any recipies.
I had thought of making a cake, and using it instead of jam??
Love some ideas to use it up as I hate wasting things.
And yes, I know, I should not bought it in the first place.

  • Hey

I saw on another thread that someone mixes this with condensed milk to make a rich ice cream - a simple way to use it all up!

otherwise just stick it in a cake recipe or spread it with cream on a swiss roll at xmas.

Send it to me and I will eat it:rotfl:

Make a chocolate swiss roll, spread your chestnut spread on, then spread softly whipped cream over that, rollup (using a clean tea-towel) and dust with icing sugar.

    Voila - chocolate roulade.
  • Am thinking about making a cake with it for Christmas and freezing it.
Will it freeze? Presumably, it is like jam and full of sugar?

Also am thinking about making a pork pie and a with hotwater crust pastry for Christmas. Will that freeze, and should it be frozen cooked or raw?

If it's sweet, use it for pudding - either to fill a chocolate roulade (with whipped cream as well to take the edge off the sweetness) Or add it to meringue & whipped cream (I think that's Mont Blanc pudding).
  • There's a who;e thread on chocolate chestnut recipes here ;)
