Inexpensive dates.

Hi Everyone,
I'm fairly new to this board and have recently worked out mine and OH's SOA which was quite shocking. I then worked out what I think is a reasonable budget which will enable us to pay off debts in just over three years but still have a decent standard of living. I have allocated a small budget for "date nights/days out" and wondered if anyone had any good ideas for "cheap dates" (that sounds awful!!) :embarasse
We are not big on going out and don't drink so looking for simple things to do. During the summer it was OK as we did picnics, walks out with the dogs etc, but now the weather isn't so good wondered if anyone had any ideas for indoor things we can do, maybe romantic type of things to keep the relationship fresh. Hope I haven't rambled on too much! Thanks for any help.

  • Have evenings playing board games?

Use the Old Style board to make a romantic but cheap meal for 2, with candles.

Join up with someone like Lovefilm (there are a couple) and take advantage of the free sign up offers for x number of months free use.

    How much is your budget?

Me and my boyfriend have a tub where we put all our change, up to 50ps then £1s when we can spare it. We've been doing it for a month so far and have £50 saved up, We're using it to go out on our year ann. but you could do one and dip into it for a night at the cinema ect.

You could do little treats for eachother, like each friday night. Or whenever date night is, take it in turns and try to come up with something interesting but MS. I was chuffed when my boyfriend picked me up from work and bought me some grapes, it's the little things!
  • Orange wednesdays for the cinema are good. We go for walks as we're sort of in the country! Also having a bit of a laugh with things like football in the park. Use the vouchers on MSE to go for a meal somewhere too. Nice meals at home are good dates as you can talk as well as relax.
    Debt to clear: feels endless...

My OH and I have joint baths with candles and smellies and soft music. We often throw in a bottle of wine (into the occasion, not the bath!). There's something wonderfully romantic about sharing a bath with your OH!

Then into a bed with freshly laundered cotton sheets.

    Heaven!

  • It depends on where you are based. If you're in London, there's almost twice as much free stuff to do as there is expensive!

    Orange wednesdays is a must!

Say, in London, you can do culture for free...

    Science Museum
    Natural History Museum
    V&A (I think...)
    Tate
    Tate Modern

then you have the Oyster Discounts like 2-4-1 on the London Eye, discounts on meals etc etc...

That is if you like you culture!

Turn Monopoly into a sexy version of itself... I haven't done it myself as I have to win and throw a tantrum if I don't! but you can play strip Monopoly!

The meal vouchers given out by the weekly email are very good most of the time and help no end!

    Hope this helps! :j

It's very moneysaving to share a bath too:rotfl: Mind I don't share a bath with my OH, I have a bath and get out and let him have the water:rotfl:

My OH's idea of a romantic night in is to snuggle up in bed with the portable DVD player and watch horror movies - and he wonders why I take my glasses off and go to sleep:rotfl:
