After months of ignoring the state my finances were in, 30k of personal debt, I called CCCS this morning. Have to want 2 weeks for my interview but it feels like a great weight off my mind.
They advised opening a basic bank account as I've a credit card with my current bank - Lloyds. I was looking at the Natwest 'step' account seemed to be a good option.
Anyway will let you know how I get on.
Cheers.

Good for you, well done! :j :j :j The best thing you have done in my opinion is decide to deal with the issues rather than pushing them under the carpet, so to speak. Keep positive and try not to worry, sounds like you are well on the way to sorting it out.

Good luck on making a start!

Look through other posts on this board for ideas on how to make a start. Lots of people post details of their debts/income/outgoings and there are always people who will have constructive ideas.
Meanwhile, good luck with the first steps!0 -

I too am waiting for my session with CCCS. I've just opened a Step account with Nat West and it all seemed to go smoothly. Good luck on sorting out your debt too. The folks on these boards have great ideas and are really encouraging! :j0 -

You've made a great move by calling CCCS - hope things are a little easier now.
The Step a/c is supposed to be a good one, but will only be a good option if you don't owe money to Natwest or any other company that's part of the Royal Bank of Scotland Group. This list should help you find a bank that you're unconnected to:-
