ouch planning a wedding in pontefract any ideas ?
Hi all, the problem is were getting married next year and need to do it as cheap as poss because were also moving house in a couple of months!! All our spare cash is off on the house (and christmas!!) but im wanting a pub/hotel in the pontefract (west yorksire) area that does bar meals (and drink!! ) and that doesnt cost the earth to hire and allows outside catering. were only having a small wedding family and a few friends that have been really understanding and say they will pay for there own main meals and so thats saved us a forture! but im wanting to put a buffet on for the afternoon.
Any ideas???

Don't you (or anyone you know) have a local pub in or near Pontefract who you can ask? I presume you or someone you know lives nearby if that is where you are getting married!!!! Loads of pubs would be happy to help I'm sure, as its extra money in their till at the end of the day.
Good luck anyway!!!Laughing at my ancient signature...voodoobaby now 10 years old:eek:0 -
Shot in the dark, but does the Greyhound Racing track near Pontefract (Kinsley I think ??) offer this kind of service when there isn't any racing on ?0

Blue bell at wentbridge, the carlton hotel, brown cow at ackworth - the kings croft hotel does nice bar meals

The Spread Eagle at Wragby, near Ackworth, does good food and is a lovely old fashioned pub with a nice garden which would be nice for the photos. I think the problem you might hit is that all pubs/hotels probably wouldn't accept outside caterers doing a buffet - health and safety regs, insurance and all that stuff. Wouldn't recommend the dog track at Kinsley.
Everyone knows that buying and setting up a home is incredibly expensive so would they understand if you had a buffet in your new home's garden? It could go on until everything ran out and any kids could run around as much as they liked, which they might not be able to do so easily in a pub/hotel.
Congratulations on new house and upcoming wedding and good luck.0 -
You could try this but it might be a bit expensive
