  • aargh!!! just realised i am in the same position...mine are 18 & 21 next year (think this would have occured to me sooner...it has had 17 years to do so!!!:rotfl: )

have no ideas but will be watching this thread closely!!!:D
  • It was the realisation that my son was 21 that gave me my LBM. I had no money.

Thanks to this site, I have turned things around, not enough to buy him the sort of present he was used to though.

    What did I do?

I 'sold' him my car at a reduced rate. We checked the book price, agreed what I would normally have spent on him and knocked it off the price. Also as it sits in a car park all day, we've agreed that I can still use it occasionally so that came off the price too. I have now got some spare money for emergencies ( the car was 8 years old so not worth a lot) and he has got transport to work during the week, ideal as he works shifts and can't always use the bus.

He's happy, he has a car he would not otherwise be able to get, he knows it has been looked after, and I still have use of a car.

Not a solution that would work for everyone, but it worked for us.
