Hi too_many_bills & welcome
As your council tax & water rates are high I was wondering if you paid them monthly by direct debit over 10 months? Our bills were very similar to yours but by ringing up we were able to pay them over 12 months. Unfortunately we can't pay by direct debit this way but I just go in the postoffice each month (no charges there for doing this) Our council tax is now £82 a month & water rates £32.57 so it has put about £25 a month in our pockets.
good luck

All of my bills are paid for on a monthly bases but are not on direct debit.
The council tax is high because i was unable to make a few payments recently and now i am paying more each month to catch up on what i owe****************************************

ok it was worth a try!
Are you not able to use public transport to get to work or could you possibly get a lift with a colleague & go halves on petrol as your petrol bill is taking up a huge part of your income. I know its not practical for some people but if you could do this you'd be much better off.'Butterflies and zebras and moonbeams and fairy tales, thats's all she ever thinks about riding with the wind' - Little wing, Jimi Hendrix0 -
Thanks Moonbeam682.
The problem is i use my can and it takes half an hour. I even leave early in the mornings now because i try to save petrol by not sitting in traffic for ages stop and starting. Sounds silly but does work and i do use less.
If i use public transport then it takes at least 2 hours and i have to get on 2 tubes and 1 bus. Thus i would have to leave home at 06.00 just to be on time for 9am.
The cost for the 1 day travel is roughly the same and i use on petrol.
Unfortunatly no one who i work with lives near me****************************************

Thanks 2_many_bills
sounds like a horribly long journey by public transport can see why you need the car! well done for saving what you can by leaving early.
Have you looked on the old style board - its brilliant & will help you make the most of the money you have. I've learnt & saved so much since I've started reading the posts there.
