    Hi

I would go to either https://www.Experian.co.uk or https://www.equifax.co.uk and have a look at your credit files. If you haven't been to these sites before you should be able to sign up for a 30 day free trial which will enable to see your credit file for free.

The more credit searches on your credit file reduces you credit score. Every time a credit card is applied for then another search is added to your file.

Sounds like it could be identity fraud - can you contact the firms involved and explain the situation and see what they advise?

If you think you may be a victim of Identity Fraud, I'd go straight to the Police. No messing about.

the thing is we think it may be his brother in law, he doesn't get on with him, he is the only person who may have a grudge and who knows his details! what would happen if I contact the credit card companies?

If you contact the credit card companies and the police because someone is applying for credit in your name - then whatever happens to the person who did this - it is not your fault or your problem.
