Quick question-soft potatoes

Hello,
I've just been going through my larder and found some potatoes right at the back-had no idea they were there and they are quite soft. Are they still ok to use? I was going to just put them on to boil for mash. They have sprouted a little, but not much.
Thanks in advance

If they are green, or taste bitter when you cook them, they are definatly not OK to eat. Otherwise, remove the base of any sprouts and be zealous with your peeling, and they'll be fine for mash.“The ideas of debtor and creditor as to what constitutes a good time never coincide.”

Thanks, I have peeled them and there are no green bits, they are just soft, that's all. They are now cooking away on the hob.Grocery budget in 2023 £2279.18/£2700Grocery budget in 2022 £2304.76/£2400Grocery budget in 2021 £2107.86/£2200Grocery budget in 2020 £2193.02/£2160Saving for Christmas 2023 #15 £ 90/ £3650
