Competition
Germany has long been a producer of both red and white wines with a world wide reputation for high quality. Riesling is the most widely planted white grape, and Pinot Noir makes up the majority of red grapes planted in Germany. Pinot Noir typically thrives in cooler climates, as it needs warmth, not intense heat, to bring out the characteristics it is most known for: elegance, velvety mouth-feel, with a distinctive fruity bouquet reminiscent of bitter almonds or blackberries.
To win a mixed case of German wine made from a selection of grapes to enjoy this autumn, enter the Wines of Germany bi-monthly competition and tell us the German name of Pinot Noir, Germany's most widely produced red grape.
