Non-fruit filling for pies

Hi
This is probably a stupid question, but here goes.
I am going to make some apple pies and some mince pies as we all love them, except my youngest ds, I was hoping to put them away in a tupperware box and use them in the pack lunches as well as an after dinner treat. Does anyone know of a different kind of filling that is not fruit, I have tried him with apple, mincemeat, rhubarb..he just doesn't like them I was wondering if I could put chocolate or something in them!!!!!!
I have tried making some of the other fabulous recipes from off of here but everything I make seems to go stale by the next day (maybe I'm doing something wrong) the only thing I have made that lasts a few days are pastry type cakes.
Thank you in advance.

What about jam or a treacle tart, although it uses syrup.
You could make individual ones for him, maybe lemon curd would be worth a try, it was on offer at Tesco.Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no: 203.0 -
hi i use a pastry base and then a little bit of jam then add a bit of sponge mix these are lush ,will he eat custard tart ,or why not try some little chocolate crispy cakes for him
or even better chocolate custard tarts0 -
How about pumpkin, its not as fruitie as the fruits you mention, or custard might work if you make it thick enough.
If you just bake the bottom shell, you can fill it with soft fruit pieces (he might like it the fruit if its not cooked)LindsayO

what my mum used to make was golden syrup mixed with cornflakes as a filling. twas gorgeous. sometimes it would be a pudding with a little bit of custard.
i made this for my hubby once and he looked at me rather odd, until he tried it. it is a bit like a treacle tart. goes hewy and yummy.0 -
forgot to say there wasn't a lid to these. it was a bit like a jam tart, a base with filling it that makes sence.0

Thanks I did once try jam, but I used a real cheapy one...maybe if I use our regular jam in it he may go for it?
I definately like the idea of the golden syrup, I will give that a try too. He's a fussy thing, doesn't like custard either, or jelly, or whip...the list goes on. I am really getting into the baking but I always feel like he is missing out and just ends up with a frube (which I know is probably healthier!!) We do eat very healthily anyway so I like to give them a treat....
