settlement figures

in Loans
we took a loan out last year with abbey. this year we decide we could pay it off so we asked for a settlement figure which they gave us over the phone. we have now been told we have to pay them another months payment even though they have given us the settlement figure and we have paid it off.
we are confused by this. is this right or are they ripping us off. AS THIS HAS MADE US MAD.

Did you pay the loan off by the expiry date of the settlement figure?0 -
we did pay it off before the expiry date. they say its the way they work it out. that they expeck you to pay the next payment.
i have never had to do it before.0 -
Then they probably include that in the settlement figure... Just a guess
