Is there an old style way to whiten laundry (ie - shirts, towels, vests, socks). I usually use glow white

  • The best OS way to I know to whiten clothes is to hang them on the washing line on a sunny day.

I put bleach into the soap dispenser drawer.
I wait for the water to rinse down the soap powder and then I pour in some bleach that I have diluted with hot water. I use about a third to half a cup of bleach depends upon how strong the bleach is ;) I am currently using the Morrisons one, Brobat  I think it's about 29p or thereabouts. I only use value powder also.
I use bleach on my pale towels, socks, undies and bedding.
Just start off with a bit and see how it does.

Napisan is meant to be good also, I think it contains similar ingredients to the expensive Oxy/Vanish type things that are sold.

I add some washing soda(soda crystals) which certainly brings things back to being lovely and white. They are only 59p out of Tesco, and are just as good as the more expensive cleaning powders. One thing that may dull your whites I have found is blue fabric conditioner - I always use very little and add a touch of vinegar with it and things remain pristine. My daughter works ina pharmacy and her uniform needs to be really white but it has green piping so you cant boil wash so I have found this is the answer.
