Laser engraving of gifts

I have just seen a Laser engraving service on Ipods bought directly from Apple.
However all efforts to find an alternate supplier/manufacturer of Electrical goods who would engrave/personalise them with laser engraving,has not been met with any luck.

Could someone add below where this is done either gratis or for a small fee?
