I currently have a mortgage with Halifax; o/s amount £13500 with 6 years to pay. 'm looking to do some home improvements and want to borrow approx £40k. However, when I've applied to Halifax they've refused my application because of 2 defaults on my credit history. These relate to a TSB current account and a personal loan - I do not bank with TSB and I'm trying to resolve the matter with them but this may take some time! I have been told that the defaults are due to be remove in dec. Is it worth waiting until after Dec to apply to a different lender or wait until the matter is resolved with TSB?

yes or you will have more refusals on your record.
wait till you have the tsb default sorted out with them then get a copy from all three credit reference companies and see what they say.
can you save up for the improvements and do them in stages ?
GOOD LUCK0
