Any quick ways to "roast" garlic, please?

Hi there  I'm making Nigella's hearthbreads for lunch. To make the garlic paste she advises roasting the head of garlic at gas 5 for 45 mins. As I'll be baking the bread later, this seems a waste of gas for one garlic head
Does anyone have any ideas for how I can do this more economically, please; using a microwave, perhaps
TIA, Penny. x

Put it in a microwave with a little oil, and chicken or other stock to go about halfway up, cover the container. Sorry I can't remember how long for, someone else may know. maybe 5 mins?0

5mins may be a bit much, burnt garlic is not nice. I would start with 2mins and then increase in 20 second increments, watching carefully.
The risk with the microwave method is that your home will honk to heaven!Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

another suggestion I saw was to do it on the stove top in oil, sounded a bit like frying it.
