Is it possible to get a mortgage if the 2nd person on it is covering a maturnity leave and is not in a permanent job?
Combined my parnter and I will be fine covering the mortgage but I have worries a bank wont accept her as she is not in a permanent job.
Cheers in advance, Liam

Sorry, but I think you're right to be worried about this. I don't think any lender is going to count your partner's income if it's only temporary.0

The maternity isn't the issue. Unless you have a significant deposit I'd be surprised if you could find a lender to take income from a temporary job in to account though.0

If your remortgaging with your current lender, the fact that your partner is on maternity won't matter. You can just take up another deal as long as you've made your payments on time each month.
If you're a first time buyer or remortgaging with a different lender then they won't take into account your partner's income. For the simple reason that she is not working and there's no guarantee she will go back to work. And maternity pay or maternity allowance, (depending on her employment status) will also not be considered as its short term.0
