will i have to pay again?

I went to my NHS dentist a couple of months ago and was told i needed two fillings.
He wanted me to go the next day to have them done but as i had barely managed to scrape together the money for the check up i still haven't been back.

My question is how much will it cost me? Not sure how much fillings are,

Will i have to pay for another check up?

Have to mention also that the dentist suggested that i might like to pay for all my treatment upfront!!!! Of course i declined!!!!!
I don't get nearly enough credit for not being a violent psychopath.

The dentist is quite entitled to ask for the NHS patient charge in advance.

I'm not too sure what the time limit is now, as I don't have much to do with the NHS now.

I know that if you've had treatment, and something else goes wrong within 8 weeks, it's still classed as the 'same treatment' - so no extra charges are applied (If the treatment is still in the same Band - if not then you'll owe the difference between the bands)

Obviously - the sooner you get back, the less likely you are to be too late!

The band 2 charge, that includes all necessary fillings, is 46.20. so if you've paid the 16.95 exam charge, you'll owe 29.25 when you have the fillings.
    How to find a dentist.
    1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
    2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
    3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
    4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.
  • If you failed to book another appointment then the dentist is entitled to close your treatment down and then open up another course of NHS treatment. This is because you only pay a portion of your cost and the local health authority pay the rest. The dentist does not get any money until they have completed the treatment. A Failure in rebooking is classified as completeing the treatment.- sorry
:money: Thankyou, thankyou, thankyou to everyone who has helped.
