Small 'Credit Building' Loan?

Is there anywhere were I can get a small loan for a person with a bad credit history? Its so I can build my credit history up bit by bit!

    bad idea
    if you want to build your credit rating up, get a beginners CC, use it regularly and pay in full each month ....doesn't matter how awful the APR is as if you pay in full you won't pay any interest.

    give Capital One a go - i was trying to do the same thig three years ago . CO gave me £200 credit limit - ideal to enable you to build up a history and after about 6 months they upped it to £800.
