Big potential problem with my credit rating

Hi
Have just recieved my credit report after applying for loans and being refused-I have always had excellent credit ratings in the past.
Hopefully I have read it correctly;so if I have I was shocked to discover that I was listed as having missed 5 payments on a loan I had with Cahoot Bank. Now to give you some history-I paid off my closing balance of over a grand with cahoot, with the money being debited from my bank account in June in time to cover that months d/d payment. So,I thought that was the end of it and my account would be clear.I recieved an email from Cahoot stating that I had missed my payment and I would be charged for this.Obviously I was concerened as I had made this payment and on phoning them they said that they had not received it.So,numerous phone calls to my bank confirming I had made the payment followed as well as numerous calls to Cahoot;who'quite frankly could go a long way to improve thier customer services! Eventually my payment was 'found' in a holding acount and credited to my account and my loan account closed in July. All charges,I was told ,were removed.

So what's going on with them? Have they not closed my account-although it shows online that I have-and are just being incompetent? It is so frustrating and I am so annoyed!!

Help anyone? Have asked credit reference company to investigate it for me.

  • A lot depends on who is to blame for the money being in a holding account in the first place.
The fact that all charges have been withdrawn ought to mean that they will put you in the clear with credit reference agencies.
    Good luck.
...............................I have put my clock back....... Kcolc ym
  • thanks Robert

The blame seemed to swing between Cahoot and my bank with myself stuck in the middle - very frustrating at the time!

hopefully it's a simple misunderstanding and I can have my good credit rating back!
  • If they have removed the charges then I would say that they have admitted liability ( full or partial) and should therefore not register the late payments.

If you can prove that the payment was made in time but the data entry shows “late” payment then the data should be removed, if they are unable / unwilling to amend the records, and you are positive that you can prove the payment was made in time ( including any clearing period) then you can escalate to the Information Commissioners Office who will rule on whether the data submitted is in compliance with the data protection act.
 It’s hard enough remembering my opinions - without remembering my reasons for them
